Getting Some Exercise in San Juan del Sur

Zen Yoga San Juan del Sur

Besides walking on the beach, swimming, surfing, scuba diving, and climbing up the many hills around town, there are a few other ways to get a workout in San Juan del Sur. Here’s how I am getting exercise in San Juan del Sur.

Zen Yoga

The town has a lovely space to practice yoga, tucked away downtown just past the park.  A drop in class only costs $10 and everything is in English. Just show up a few minutes beforehand and you’re good to go. They even supply mats for those, like me, who like to travel light.

Zen Yoga’s classroom is on the second floor in an open space, so it is always full of fresh air and wind – like now, the windy season!

I have been to class there twice, they have all the equipment you need and it is nice and chill. Not surprisingly, they play relaxing music and the mood is very zen. It’s a great way to get exercise in San Juan del Sur.

The first yoga class I took there was at 5PM on a weekday and it was a nice way to experience the sunset. I couldn’t see it, but certainly got the effects going from light to dark in class at Zen Yoga.

Fight Club Gym

Fight Club Gym is very different from Zen Yoga. It’s a boxing gym with some workout equipment. The clientele is mainly men and they play some loud metal music to back up your workout!

If you are going for cardio, you will be hard pressed (one elliptical machine had a “broken” sign and the other one was so lopsided I thought I would fall off the whole time I used it!). However, if you are comfortable working out with weights or body weight, there’s enough there to satisfy your needs.

Plus, it only costs 100 cordobas, which is around $3.25, for a day pass. I can handle that! An affordable way to exercise at San Juan del Sur at Fight Club.

I recommend either spot, depending on your preference, if you visit and want to exercise in San Juan del Sur.
