Street Art in Bonaire

I love exploring places through the street art. It’s cool to see the local talent and what they choose to depict in their murals. I noticed the street art as soon as we could wander the island. Not surprisingly, in Bonaire, the artists paint a lot of marine life. Read on to see and learn about the street art in Bonaire.

The Sea

In Bonaire, locals and tourists celebrate the wonders of the sea and the fun activities to enjoy on and in it. Not surprisingly, that appreciation is reflected in the island’s street art.

Donkeys

Donkeys roam freely around Bonaire so it’s no surprise to see art devoted to these sweet and ubiquitous animals.

Street Art in Guadeloupe

If you love graffiti, you must go to Guadeloupe, especially the city of Pointe-a-Pitre. You may have read my favorite things to do in these French islands; now here’s my guide to the street art in Guadeloupe.

We moved around the islands of Guadeloupe (“Gwada”) on boat and by rental car. The main city of Point-a-Pitre is urban and gritty and full of life, with colorful street art around every corner.

We saw murals on the main roads outside the city but I couldn’t always stop or take pictures from a moving car. I got lots of snaps of the beautiful street art in Guadeloupe, plus sculptures and statues we spotted in the islands.

Welcome to Guadeloupe

Famous for Street Art

I didn’t realize it but Guadeloupe is famous for its street art. The World Kreyol Art Festival takes over the streets of Point-a-Pitre every year and street art is a big focus of the event.

Martinique Musts

After two visits to Martinique, first for a week and again for a month, we have seen and done a lot in this French Caribbean paradise! Here are my top things to do when you visit, my Martinique musts.

Why We Love Martinique

The food, the scenery, the culture, the water, the variety: all are reasons to fall in love with Martinique. You can spend a day eating delicious French food, swimming with starfish and turtles in clear Caribbean water, and end it sampling rum while listening to reggae music. It’s a pretty good life on a boat in Martinique and it could be easy to sleep and repeat day after day. Some may have less time than we did and I know what you don’t want to miss so on to my list of Martinique musts.

The Southern Beaches

Do you like long swathes of soft sand? Beach bars with great food, drinks and lively company? Both are on offer at the southern strip of Martinique, south of the lovely Sainte Anne anchorage.
